The rapid growth of e-commerce and purchasing platforms has transformed the way consumers shop, with logistics delivery becoming a critical factor in customer satisfaction. This study investigates the timeliness and accuracy of logistics delivery in both purchasing platforms (focused on cross-border shopping) and traditional e-commerce platforms (focused on domestic sales).
As globalization and digitalization continue to evolve, purchasing platforms and e-commerce platforms have become essential channels for consumers to access goods. While purchasing platforms cater to international demand, e-commerce platforms primarily focus on domestic markets. The efficiency of logistics delivery plays a pivotal role in retaining customers and ensuring brand loyalty. This research examines the logistics performance of both types of platforms, focusing on delivery timeliness and accuracy.
This study analyzed data from three major purchasing platforms and three leading e-commerce platforms. Data was collected over a six-month period, tracking delivery times and accuracy rates for 1,000 orders from each platform. Surveys were also conducted among customers to gather insights into their delivery experiences. Statistical analysis was performed to compare the performance of purchasing and e-commerce platforms.
The study found that e-commerce platforms had an average delivery time of 2.5 days within domestic regions, compared to 7.3 days for purchasing platforms delivering cross-border orders. The faster delivery time of e-commerce platforms is attributed to their localized logistics networks and established domestic partnerships.
Both purchasing and e-commerce platforms demonstrated high accuracy rates, with e-commerce platforms achieving a 98.5% accuracy rate and purchasing platforms achieving 95.2%. The lower accuracy rate for purchasing platforms is linked to complexities in customs clearance and international shipping procedures.
The findings highlight the strengths and challenges of both platform types. While e-commerce platforms excel in timeliness due to their localized operations, purchasing platforms face inherent delays due to cross-border logistics. Both platforms, however, prioritize accuracy to maintain customer trust.
This study underscores the importance of efficient logistics in enhancing customer satisfaction. E-commerce platforms benefit from their domestic focus, ensuring faster delivery, while purchasing platforms must navigate international logistics complexities to improve timeliness. Both platforms must continue investing in technology and partnerships to maintain high accuracy rates and meet evolving consumer expectations.
